Data analytics is the key to success

Complex models have been developed to forecast demand and predict capacity utilization and yield. However, the algorithms that form the basis for these forecasts are no longer valid.

So what to do in a situation where past demand is disconnected from current traffic volumes? The answer is often Excel and pivot calculations, right? But finding answers in huge tables with an infinite number of rows and columns can be a real challenge. In addition, the data is often already out of date when it is created. The question is: what to do?

Business intelligence dashboards are the solution. Flexible dashboard reports can be created on the basis of tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or Qlik. The special thing about these tools is that they combine data from different sources such as SAP, SQL and, of course, Excel. This makes live updates possible.

The key to success is to define the meaningful data points and combine them to develop KPIs that lead to a better strategic outcome of decisions.

UNEX has developed a business intelligence tool for the commercial aspects of aviation. It provides insights in the areas of sales, pricing and revenue management:

  • Use of multiple data sources incl. Real-time connections to the most important databases
  • Scenario calculations based on interacting assumptions for the development of demand
  • Earnings forecasts for revenues, earnings, SLF, etc.
  • Fair share calculations by route and department and much more

There is no one-size-fits-all solution. However, based on the established UNEX model, up to 80% of manual work is already completed, freeing up resources within the company. The adaptations to the specific requirements and terminology can usually be made in 4 to 8 weeks. Have the model shown to you in an online session to find out if this would solve some of your problems.
